PACKAGE TOURS AND HOTEL OCCUPANCY RATE
Visitors on package tours totalled 905,000, up by 8.0% month-to-month but down by 20.5% year-on-year, with those from Mainland China dropping by 17.2%. In the first eight months, visitors on package tours totalled 6,685,000, down by 5.4% year-on-year; those arriving on package tours decreased by 3.6%.
Number of guests checking into hotels and guesthouses reached 999,000; the average occupancy rate (84.4%) increased by 2.7 percentage points month-to-month and yet decreased by 5.6 percentage points year-on-year. In the first eight months, guests from hotels and guesthouses decreased by 6.4% year-on-year and the average occupancy rate dropped by 7.0 percentage points.
AUGUST 2015
Outbound residents using services of travel agencies decreased by 8.6% year-on-year to 142,000, with 41.2% travelling on package tours. In the first eight months, outbound residents using services of travel agencies totalled 1,012,000, up slightly by 0.1% year-on-year.
