PACKAGE TOURS AND HOTEL OCCUPANCY RATE
Outbound residents using services of travel agencies rose by 15.1% year-on-year to 112,000, with 40.7% travelling on package tours. In the first five months of 2017, outbound residents using services of travel agencies increased by 10.6% year-on-year to 557,000.
There were 107 hotels & guesthouses operating at the end of May 2017, an increase of 2 year-on-year. Number of guest rooms totalled 36,000, of which 5- star hotel rooms accounted for 60.1%.
A total of 1,125,000 guests checked into hotels & guesthouses, up by 20.1% year-on-year; the average occupancy rate stood at 84.9%, up by 5.0 percentage points. In the first five months of 2017, guests of hotels & guesthouses increased by 15.8% year-on-year to 5,254,000; the average occupancy rate rose by 5.4 percentage points to 84.0%.

Visitors on package tours totalled 681,000, up by 20.7% year-on-year, with those coming from Mainland China rising by 18.9% to 524,000. In the first five months of 2017, visitors on package tours increased by 8.0% year-on-year to 3,085,000.
