Abstract
To promote tourism as a mean to advance economic development is always on the priority list in the governmental policy agenda. Then the goal of this study is to use Miaoli County as the case study area and to apply input-output methodology to measure the economic impacts from tourists’ expenditure.
Noting that there is no existing sub-regional input-output table ready available. Therefore, first it needs to obtain the Miaoli County input-output table by applying LQ(Location Quotient) adjusting method to transform the existing national input-output table. Then, based upon the data from the newest tourists’ expenditure survey, the overall economic impact from tourists’ expenditure can be measured. In order to make a detailed analysis of sectoral interaction pattern, tourists’ expenditure is also subdivided into four sectors and the results can be applied to future tourism planning.
