HKUST, UCLA Offer Advanced Proaramme in Human Resource Manaqement
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) are offering a residential joint executive education programme for human resource professionals, 17-22 May, in Hong Kong. Entitled, “Advanced : -:?ogramme in Human Resource Management,” the seminar will focus on company -- .
strategy rather than personnel management techniques. It will address such issues as managing personnel of multinational companies, choosing recruitment and selection strategies, and integrating human resource strategy into overall business strategy.
The programme will be presented by faculty of the Anderson Graduate School together with experienced practitioners from major companies. These include Eric Flamholtz, Professor of Management at the Anderson Graduate School, President of Management Systems Consulting Corporation, which he founded in 1978, and author of a number of books on management, including Growing Pains; How to Make the
Transition From an Entrepreneurship to a Professionally Managed Firm.
More than 90 American and multinational companies have participated recently in this programme. Among them are Eastman Kodak, Citicorp, Marriott Corporation, Rockwell International and the Boeing Co.

This will be the second joint executive education programme jointly offered by HKUST and the Anderson Graduate School of Management. “Managing the Information Resource: Breaking Away with Information Technology in the ’90s” was the first, held’ in May, 1991. Like the currently offered programme, that one targeted senior executives in medium to large organisations in both the private and public sectors. It was fully subscribed, with 40 participants from Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore.
