Susan is reading some information in a book.

Read the information.

On the Move Rockets

Rockets are special engines used to lift spacecraft into space. They are extremely powerful and need a lot of fuel. They are also very expensive to make and use.

Cars

Motor cars have been around for over one hundred years. The first cars had only three wheels and no roofs. They did not go very fast. Modern cars are spacious, comfortable and can reach high speeds. They also have safety features like airbags and seatbelts.

Steam trains

Steam trains, first built around two hundred years ago, had powerful engines and could reach high speeds.

They were used to transport goods and passengers over long distances.

Ships

Early ships used sails. Today’s modern ships have diesel engines and are often very large. They transport cargo around the world.

Vessels that travel underwater are called submarines. Others, like hovercraft, use a cushion of air which allows them to move across the surface of the water.

Part 2

Peter and Susan wrote for the school magazine.

Read their writing.

It is time to say goodbye to the school. In September, I will enter Secondary One at a new school.

When I entered Primary One, I was not happy. The schoolwork was too difficult and there was too much homework. Also, I was not good at sports. Luckily, the teachers were very kind.

They saw that I was unhappy. They talked to me and helped me a lot. Some teachers even helped me after school.

Now I really love my school. I will miss my classmates, my teachers and the school next year.

I feel sad to say goodbye to the school. I love my school so much.

Since my first day in Primary One, I have had a wonderful time. Every classmate is very friendly. Every teacher helps me when I do not understand something. Once, I forgot to bring money for lunch. A teacher kindly lent me enough money to buy my lunch, so I did not go hungry.

I really hope my new school can make me as happy as this school.

In a village far away, two brothers lived with their parents. The brothers were twins, named Bill and Ben.

The boys were unhappy. People always mixed them up because they looked so much alike. Bill did not like to be called Ben. Ben did not like to be called Bill.

One day, they went for a walk up the mountain near their village. They stopped to rest under a very large tree. They did not know that the tree was a magic tree.

Suddenly, they heard a voice coming from the tree. It said, “I know you are unhappy.” Bill and Ben were as frightened as rabbits. They could not run away.

The voice said, “You do not like to look alike. I will change you!”

They saw a flash of lightning and heard a loud noise. “Boom! Boom!”

Bill looked at Ben. Ben had a face like a large green frog! Ben looked at Bill. Bill had hair all over his face, like a monkey!

The two boys jumped up and ran down the mountain to their village.

Luckily, the first people they met were their parents.

“Look! Look!” the boys shouted.

“Look at what the magic tree did to us!” Bill said. “We looked alike before and we didn’t like it. But now we look terrible. Help us!”

The boys’ parents quickly took them to the oldest woman in the village.

They knew she also had magical power. The twins told her what happened. They said, “We were unhappy before but we are more unhappy now. Please help us.”

The old woman took some water from a small river behind her house. She splashed the water onto the boys’ heads and put a spell on them at the same time.
