The number of visitor arrivals in Macau, by different modes of transport, was 501,005 in May 1998 which showed a decrease of 7.6% when compared with the same month of 1997.

In the first five months of 1998, there was a total number of 2,935,088 visitors arrived by sea (through Outer Harbour and Pier No. 14), by land, and by air, represented a decrease of 8.3% over the same period of 1997.

In the period of analysis, visitor arrivals by sea (through Outer Harbour) recorded a decrease of 9.4%, at 1,974,253 over the same period of 1997. Visitor arrivals by air totalled at 200,233, represented a decrease of 13.5%. The number of visitor arrivals through the Macau International Airport decreased by 13.7% over the same period of last year, at 191,494.

There were 704,750 visitors arrived by land, equivalent to an increase of 0.2% over the same period of 1997.
