VISITOR MOVEMENT
The number of visitor arrivals in Macau, by different modes of transport, was 577,531 in May 1999 which showed an increase of 15.3% when compared with the same month of 1998.
In the first five months of 1999, there was a total number of 3,054,088 visitor arrivals by sea (through Outer Harbour and Pier No. 14), by land, and by air, represented an increase of 4.1% over the same period of 1998.
From January to May of 1999, visitor arrivals by sea through Outer Harbour were 1,828,344, corresponded to a decrease of 7.4% over the same period of 1998. Visitor arrivals by air totalled at 267,732, represented an increase of 33.7%. The number of visitor arrivals through Macau International Airport increased by 34.0% over the same period of last year, at 256,576.
There were 908,254 visitor arrivals by land, equivalent to an increase of 28.9% compared with the same period of 1998.
