VISITOR ARRIVALS
The total number of visitor arrivals in May 2004 was 1,327,412, a remarkable year-on-year increase of 122.5% which was caused by the drop in arrivals last May when Macao was affected by the SARS epidemic in the neighbouring areas, combined with the benefit from the Individual Visit Scheme. In May 2004, visitors to Macao mainly came from Mainland China (including those who travelled under the Individual Visit Scheme), Hong Kong and Taiwan. Same-day visitors, with 673,854, accounted for 50.8% of the total arrivals.
