Taiwan’s Creative Inventors Shine in Nuremberg
T
he Taiwanesedelegationwonnumerousawards at the 2007 Nuremberg International Invention Exhibition, the world’s biggest invention exhibition, in early November. Among some 800 inventions from more than 30 countries, the workssubmitted by the Taiwanese delegation won a of 55 medals plus two special awards. The 12 gold, 29 silver and 14 bronze medals broke the of 34 medals won.The delegation, led by Gao Fa-yu, the former and original director of the Taiwan Prominent Inventor Association, ofteams from twenty one schools. Among the gold medal winners were two junior high school students. One invented “anelectric socketthat can be turned on or off with the touch of a finger,” and the other “analuminum foil packagewith a hidden straw.” These two students are the youngest-ever winners from Taiwan at thecompetition. This shows howinnovativethe young in Taiwan is.
In addition, two students from National Pintung University of Science and Technology,cooperatingwith another sutdent from Shih Chien University, invented “an engine that can burn a variety of fuels.” This
friendlydevicewas highlypraisedand won a special award from the Iran Inventors Association as well as a gold at the exhibition.
Gao said that not only were there moreparticipantsfrom Taiwan at this year’s exhibition than ever before but also their performances were . This may be the result of many schools having set up
“invention clubs” in order to develop more innovative minds.
In fact, the nationally-famous inventor, Teng Hung-chi, “Taiwan’s Edison,” has proposed the establishmentof an inventioninstitutetoassistpeople with thepotentialto become successful inventors. It is expected that this institute will put innovative minds together so that more Taiwanese inventions will be seen not just at the event in Nuremberg but in every corner of the world.

此外，兩位來自屏東科技大學的學生，與另一位來自實踐大學的學生合作發明「可適用多樣燃料的引擎發動機」。
這項具有環保概念的裝置受到高度讚賞，不僅獲得了發明展中的金牌獎，更獲得了伊朗發明協會所頒發的特別獎。
高發育指出，在今年的發明展中，來自台灣的參展人數不僅比以往多很多，而且他們的表現都十分傑出。這可能 是因為近幾年來很多學校成立了發明社團，以培育更多發明創新的人才。
事實上，全國知名，有「台灣愛迪生」之稱的發明家鄧鴻吉，已經提案設立發明學院，以協助具有潛力成為成功 發明家的人。大家都期待這個學院可以集結創新的頭腦，那麼人們不僅會在一年一度的紐倫堡發明展中，而是在世界 的每個角落看到更多台灣的發明。
