Lack of Calcium Linked to Decrease in Height

A

recent study indicates that the average height of elementary level students has dropped by almost a centimeter over the last couple of years. One of them is that too much attention has been paid to weight loss since the average weight of elementary students became a concern. Since calcium is closely linked to human height, a lack of it may cause ahindranceinadequategrowth.

However, statisticsindicate that four out of five school children eat foods high in calcium less than three times a month, let alone on a daily basis. Research also suggests that parents do not seem to be familiar with other high-calcium foods, which is one of the main causes for children’s lack of calcium intake.

Some are easily available, such assoyproducts, seafood and certain vegetables. In addition, black and whitesesame seedsare rich in calcium. With this in mind, parents can offer their children different kinds of delicious foods, other than just dairy foods, which can help them grow taller.

Thus, experts also suggest that apart from eating foods that are high in calcium, keeping early hours is also a must. In addition, regular exercise that involves jumping, such as skipping rope and playing basketball can also be a plus for heightenhancement.

Discourse Structure

Genetics, nutrition, exercise, and sufficient rest are believed to be the key elements that influence children’s height.

Another moresignificantreason is that parents haveoverlookedtheir children’scalcium intake.

Experts point out that there area variety offoods rich in calcium.

This shocking finding may be the result of a number of factors.

It is commonly known that the most popularsourcesof calcium are eggs anddairy foods, such as milk and cheese.

Al Gore Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

The committee gave them the prize “for their efforts to build up anddisseminategreater knowledge about man- made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.” The honor comes as no surprise to the many people who support Gore’s tireless efforts to increase public awareness and help solve the problem of global warming which he claims is the single biggestthreat facing our planet.

Al Gore, a former United States senator and the Vice President under Bill Clinton, understood the dangers of climate change long before it became a politicalhot-potato, holding congressional hearings on environmental issues in the late 1970s. The film, based on amultimedia presentationthat Gore had been personally giving to interested groups of people for years, not only was a huge success at the box officebut also went on to win many awards including the 2007 Oscar for best documentary.

While two sitting U.S. Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, and one former U.S.
