一、參加會議經過

第 17 屆國際史特靈引擎研討會於英國新堡 Newcastle 舉行,由 Northumbria University 所主辦,

此研討會為史特靈研究領域最盛大之國際學術會議,參與者皆為該領域知名研究單位與開發者,

2016 年適逢 Robert Stirling 發明史特靈循環(1816)兩百周年,亦藉此會議紀念慶祝。筆者於 8 月 22

日搭乘荷蘭航空至阿姆斯特丹機場並轉機至 Newcastle,於 8 月 23 日抵達當地後,熟悉地理環境與

Northumbria University 周邊機能後便返回飯店休息準備隔日行程。

研討會首日我們於早上 9 點抵達會場進行註冊,指導教授藉此機會帶領我們認識幾位熟識的教

授與學者,9 點半準時舉行開幕式,大會主席 Khamid Mahkamov 開心地歡迎大家並簡短的介紹本

研討會之歷史與主旨。接著進行三場 keynote lecture,由相關企業界的管理者來分享目前史特靈科

技產品化現況與所遇到的難題,給許多研究開發者建議以及未來設計上必須考量的問題,包含成

本、材料、應用性與最重要的環保問題。下午為兩時段各主題之 parallel session,筆者挑選了與自

己研究相關的場次聆聽報告,除了不同投稿論文報告外,這次會議上還有數家國外廠商進行展覽,

皆為史特靈研究相關技術或是模型產品。筆者於第二日下午 3 點進行論文發表,此次報告的題目是

A Cooling System Combining Stirling Engine And Stirling Cooler,此研究係將一 beta 型史特靈引擎與

beta 型史特靈冷凍機以機構對接,以外部熱源對引擎加熱後,其產生之機械輸出功可以直接驅動冷

凍機運轉,而不需再依賴電力,並提出熱力循環與動力模式之數學模型,此設計目前還沒有產品或

專利的發表,在史特靈領域為新的研究主題。報告完現場的學者也提出一些問題與筆者討論,最後

給予筆者設計與理論上的建議,對筆者往後的研究方向有許多幫助,會後更與幾位其他學校的學生

一同討論相似的研究內容。

會議最後一天上午是兩場 keynote lecture 與一個時段的 session 報告,短暫茶敘之後則進入閉

幕式,主辦人首先感謝每位與會者的參與,接著再次地慶祝史特靈兩百周年,並提到 9 月 4 日將於

Messy Chruch 舉行更盛大的 Stirling exhibition 緬懷牧師 Robert Stirling 以及發揚他的貢獻。最後階

段,主辦人宣布下一屆國際史特靈引擎研討會(International Stirling Engine Conference)之主辦單位為

台灣國立成功大學航太系,指導教授與同行研究生皆感到榮耀與興奮,有機會將此規模之國際研討

會帶到台灣,肯定能使台灣在相關領域上有所躍進。於英國短暫停留後,由愛丁堡機場搭乘荷蘭航

空經由阿姆斯特丹,在 8 月 30 日下午抵達台灣。

二、與會心得

筆者透過本次會議將科技部補助計畫的研究成果投稿論文,在 Novel Engine Configurations and

Applications 中獲得接受發表,並將其內容完整地呈現給與會者,藉此機會訓練自己在國際會議中

發表演說,增進外語能力。除此之外,此會議中也看到計算流體力學模擬、熱交換器、燃燒器、控

制系統、熱電共生、極低溫製冷器、熱泵等等的關鍵技術與延伸應用,先進技術如 3D 基層製造也

被視為重要的製造工具,獲得豐富的收穫。

本屆史特靈研討會有許多的公司共襄盛舉,例如 Global Cooling Inc., Ricor, Centro Stirling 幾間

公司,裡面的工程師或主管都不吝嗇地提供與會者指導和經驗,筆者發現現在各單位所面臨的皆是

製造成本的問題,使得史特靈引擎仍無法進入商用市場,而台灣製造業相當發達,相信往後經由此

會議可以逐漸提升我國在史特靈方面的技術,成為全球頂尖的團隊。筆者這次也如願見到史特靈研

究的專家 Allan J Organ,平時都只是讀他所撰寫的書,利用這次機會與他當面對話討論,實屬一寶

貴的經驗,另外還認識幾位來自不同國家的學生,除了學術話題外也各自分享不同國家的文化。

三、建議

承蒙科技部補助筆者出席此次研討會所需之費用,以及我校成功大學與指導教授同意筆者參加

本次會議。出席此會議可以看到當前在史特靈研究領域最頂尖的成果以及未來的發展趨勢,得到第

一手的相關資訊,並藉由與各國研究人員之學術交流提升自我實力與培養國際觀,希望科技部未來

能持續補助研究生出席國際研討會,提升我國未來之研究能力與國際學術地位。
