28 September 1999CUHK AND HKUST FORM ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP
Academic collaboration between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(HKUST) received formal endorsement today (Tuesday, 28 September 1999) as the two universities signed an agreement on academic partnership.
The Agreement on Academic Partnership was signed by Prof Arthur K. C. Li, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, and Prof Chia-Wei Woo, President of HKUST.
Under the agreement, the two universities will join hands in various areas, including: studentsÕ enrollment on partner institutionÕs courses, research activities, academic conferences and the sharing of academic materials.
The partnership marks an important milestone in the development of higher education and scientific research in Hong Kong. It builds upon the existing strong linkage between academics of the two universities, and elevates it from an individual and departmental basis to an institutional level.
Having formalized this strategic alliance, the two universities will work in synergy, building on each otherÕs proven strengths in educating young leaders for Hong Kong, as well as advancing the development of science and technology.
