The main purpose of this study was to determine the impact of a nutrition education program on nutrition knowledge and dietary practice of university freshmen. A total of 212 university students (male=81, female=131) participated in this intervention study.The particopants four teaching classes were assigned randomly. Two classes were 2(N=121) were randomly assigned to the
experimental group and the other 2(N=91) were assigned to the control group.
The students in the experimental group received a nutrition education program of two 50-minute sessions per week for 3 weeks. The program comprised ?Health Diet?, ?Food and Nutrition Element?, ?Disease and Diet?, ?The Sign of Nutrition?
and ?Control Weight ?. They completed a self-reported questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. The results showes the university freshmen were lack of nutrition knowledge. Gender and dietary practice were factors which affected university freshmen?s nutrition knowledge, and also the significance effect of dietary practice was dietary type. Other variance didn?t showed any significance difference of nutrition knowledge and dietary practice.
The above evidences puggest that nutrition education affected nutrition knowledge but not dietary practice.
