根據二零零一人口普查的結果及其後的人口變動資料計算，至二零零四年十二月三十一日的本澳居住人口估計為 465 333 人，較二零零三年十二月三十一日增加了 16 838 人，二零零四年的人口年增長率為 3.7%。

居住人口的性別分佈為男性佔 48.0%，女性佔 52.0%；在年齡分佈方面，17.1%屬 0-14 歲的年青人口，74.8%屬 15-64 歲的成年人口，8.1%屬 65 歲及以上的老年人口。與二零零三年比較，年青人口比例下降了 1.5 個百分點，而老年人口比例則上升了 0.2 個百分點。

在構成人口數量增長的其中一個組成部分 ── 人口的自然變動方面，二零零四年澳門人口的活嬰數目為 3 308 人，死亡數目為 1 533 人，較二零零三年分別上升了 3.0%及 4.0%；人口自然增長率為 0.4%。

而在構成人口數量增長的另一個組成部分 ── 人口的遷移變動方面，二零零四年的移入人數共 16 548 名，當中包括來自中國大陸的合法和非法移民，獲准在澳居留人士及非本地勞工；移出人數估計為 1 485 名。

Segundo os cálculos efectuados com base nos resultados dos Censos 2001 e os dados dos movimentos da população, a população residente estimada para 31 de Dezembro de 2004 foi de 465 333, o que representa um acréscimo de 16 838 pessoas em relação a 31 de Dezembro de 2003. Assinala-se que, no ano de 2004, se verificou uma taxa de crescimento anual de 3,7%.

No que diz respeito à repartição por sexo, observa-se que 48,0% da população é do sexo masculino e 52,0% do sexo feminino. Quanto à estrutura etária, verifica-se que 17,1% são jovens (0-14 anos), 74,8%

adultos (15-64 anos) e 8,1% idosos (65 anos e mais). Em comparação com os resultados do ano anterior, a proporção dos jovens decresceu 1,5 pontos percentuais, enquanto que a percentagem dos idosos aumentou 0,2 pontos percentuais.

Relativamente ao movimento natural, um dos factores demográficos que determina o crescimento da população, registaram-se 3 308 nado-vivos e 1 533 óbitos em 2004, o que representa acréscimos de 3,0% e de 4,0%, respectivamente, em relação ao ano transacto. A taxa de crescimento natural foi de 0,4%.

Quanto a outro factor demográfico － movimento migratório em 2004, as estimativas apontam para um total de 16 548 imigrantes, incluindo os vindos da China Continental (legais e ilegais), bem como os indivíduos autorizados a permanecer em Macau e trabalhadores não residentes. Por seu turno, foram estimados 1 485 emigrantes.

Based on the results of Census 2001 and the data on subsequent population changes, resident population of Macao was estimated at 465 333 as at 31^st December 2004, which represented an increase of 16 838 persons compared with 31^st December 2003. Population growth rate in 2004 was 3.7%.

With regard to the sex distribution of the resident population, 48.0% were male and 52.0% were female. In terms of population distribution by age group, 17.1% aged 0-14, 74.8% aged 15-64 and 8.1%

aged 65 and above. Compared with 2003, the proportion of resident population aged 0-14 dropped 1.5 percentage points while those aged 65 and above went up 0.2 percentage point.

The natural increase of population is one of the factors in population growth. In Macao, 3 308 live births and 1 533 deaths were recorded in 2004, up 3.0% and 4.0% respectively compared with 2003.

Natural growth rate in 2004 was 0.4%.

Population migration is another factor in population growth. In 2004, there was an inflow of 16 548 persons, including legal and illegal immigrants from Mainland China, persons that were authorized to reside in Macao and non-resident workers. Meanwhile, number of emigrants was estimated at 1 485 persons.
