2008 年 3 月 31 日澳門的居住人口估計為 54.3 萬人，較 2007 年同期增加約 2.3 萬人。
在 2008 年第 1 季，本澳共有 1 076 名新生嬰兒，較前一季減少 20.4%，而較 2007 年同季則增加 8.5%。新生嬰兒中男嬰有 560 名，嬰兒性別比為 108.5。
2008 年第 1 季共錄得 513 宗死亡個案，較前一季及 2007 年同季分別增加 32.2%
及 20.1%；根本死因以“循環系統疾病＂為多，共 159 宗，而“惡性腫瘤＂則有 117 宗。此外，第 1 季有 2 宗死胎登記。
同季衛生局共接獲 570 宗必須申報疾病的報告，較前一季減少 57 宗；主要是“水 痘＂、“肺結核＂及“輪狀病毒性腸炎＂，分別有 274 宗、96 宗及 73 宗，而“手足 口病＂則有 26 宗。
結婚登記共 684 宗，較前一季及 2007 年同季均顯著上升 35.2%。
2008 年第 1 季共有 1 605 人獲准在澳門居留，取消居留的有 268 名；至第 1 季 末，獲准在澳門居留人士結餘為 43 292 名，較前一季及 2007 年同期分別增加 1 337 名及 5 484 名。同期的外地僱員結餘為 90 013 名，較前一季及 2007 年同期分別增加 4 806 名及 18 831 名。
2008 年第 1 季來自中國大陸的合法移民共有 515 名，較前一季減少 81 名 (-13.6%)，而較 2007 年同季增加 18 名(+3.6%)。被遣返的非法移民有 355 名，較前 一季及 2007 年同季分別減少 3.3%及 3.0%。
