Nº3 VISITOR MOVEMENT

The number of visitor arrivals in Macau, by different modes of transport, was 578,181 in March 1998 which showed a sign of decrease when compared with the same month of 1997.

In the first three months of 1998, there was a total number of 1,784,117 visitors arrived by sea (through Outer Harbour and Pier No. 14), by land and by air, represented a decrease of 10.9% over the same period of 1997.

In the period of analysis, visitor arrivals by sea (through Outer Harbour) recorded a decrease of 12.9%, at 1,218,284 over the same period of 1997. Visitor arrivals by air totalled at 116,712, represented a decrease of 6.6%. The number of visitor arrivals through the Macau International Airport decreased by 5.9% over the same period of last year, at 111,924.

There were 412,028 visitors arrived by land, equivalent to a decrease of 2.5% over the same period of 1997.
