阿訇 (經堂語);波斯文: ﺪﻧﻮﺧا āḫund,波斯語音譯,意為「教師」、「學 者」。在清真寺裡學習多年而經學水平和道德操守都合格的人,經舉行

「掛帳」或「穿衣」的畢業儀式後,即可受聘到清真寺任職。此詞約元 代(1279–1368)進入中國,約自明代(1368–1644)后期胡登洲開辦經 堂教育時起,中國穆斯林開始稱教授經文的教師為阿訇,清代(1644–

1911)見於漢文記載。按照宗教學識素養、地位、職責等的不同,歷史 上曾有如下幾種阿訇稱謂:

一、掌教阿訇。即清真寺的伊瑪目,亦稱「掌教」,一般由本地人擔 任,專管本坊一切宗教事宜並帶領禮拜。歷史上曾一度變成世襲,近代 已變為推舉聘任。

二、開學阿訇。即向外地寺坊聘請的為經文大學授經的高級講學阿訇,

或稱「統教」,其講學期間稱之為「開學」。以上兩種阿訇頗受尊敬,
