與國家的成長（Growth of a Nation）等課題。
六年級的教材為《The World》，探索早期文明，中古世界與現代 世界，每一課均包涵指導、閱讀教學。

在國中教科書方面，Pearson 公司的國中（middle high school，7-9 年級）社 會教科書，則是吸收 Prentice Hall 的國中社會系列教科書後，以 Pearson Prentice Hall 為名發行。依其網頁註所揭示，國中的核心教科書有「美國：我們國家的歷 史（America:

底下分別編輯美國史調 動（Civics:

世界研究

國中的歷史、地理和
世界研究（World Studies），包括非 洲（Africa）、亞洲與太平洋（Asia and the Pacific）、歐洲與俄羅斯（Europe and Russia）、拉丁美洲（Latin America）、美利堅合眾國與加拿大
（The United States and
Canada）、基礎地理（Foundations of Geography）古老的世界（The Ancient World）中古世紀到現在（Medieval Times to today 東半球（Eastern Hemisphere）、西半球（Western Hemisphere）等八本小書。
世界史（History of Our World）
現代早期（Early Modern Times:
1348 to-1800）
啟蒙時期與革命（1687-1850）
新全球時代（1840-1914）
世界大戰與革命運動（1905-1945）
1945 年以後的世界（1945-Present）

國中的社會教科書已不是以「社會科」整合各學科的編製方式，而多以專題 獨立成書，諸如《美國歷史（United States History）》一書，分列了 10 個章節，
闡述美國每一個時期的發展情形：
(一) 三個世界相遇（Three Worlds Meet: Beginnings-1607）
(二) 殖民開拓與殖民地（Colonization and Settlement: 1607-1763）
(三) 革命與新國家（Revolution and the New Nation: 1763-1815）
(四) 發展與革新（Expansion and Reform: 1816-1850）
(五) 南北戰爭與國家重建（Civil War and Reconstruction: 1850-1877）
(六) 工業美國的發展（Development of Industrial America: 1862-1900）
(七) 現代美國的浮現（The Emergence of Modern America: 1898-1929）
(八) 經濟蕭條與二次世界大戰（Depression and World War II: 1930-1945）
(九) 戰後美國（Postwar United States: 1945-1969）
(一〇) 當代美國（Contemporary United States: 1970-Present）
而《世界探索：人類、地方與文化》也寫了七章世界主要地區與文化的相關內容：
單元一：地理：工具與概念（Geography: Tools and Concepts）
單元二：美國與加拿大（The United States and Canada）
單元三：拉丁美洲（Latin America）
單元四：歐洲與俄羅斯（Europe and Russia）
單元五：非洲（Africa）

至於《世界地理與文化》則包含美國與各大洲的地理：

由上可知國中教科書多以專書方式進行分科編製，至於社會科課程則由各校 自行以主題教學方案整合各科的學習，出版社提供諸多教學方案給老師們使用，
而不再出現整合性的一本社會教科書。
