This is a play adapted from Robert Scott’s The Angry Doctor.

Setting: This is a hospital. A doctor sits at the table, busy writing some notes. Hanna enters and nervously stands at the table. The doctor doesn’t see her. After a few seconds, Hanna coughs.

Doctor: Yes? (Still busy writing something) Hanna: Well… morning, Doctor.

Doctor: (Coldly speaking) Morning. Sit down. Hanna: Thank you. I have this strange little…

Doctor: (Speaking to himself loudly) Oh, here we go again! Hanna: Sorry?

Doctor: Nothing. Go on.

Hanna: OK. Well, it’s just this little, strange…

Doctor: (Speaking to himself again, louder) Oh, not again! Hanna: Is there a problem, Doctor?

Doctor: (Angry) No! Why should there always be a problem? Ten years! I’ve worked here for ten years! Ten horrible years and not a single person ever asked me how I might feel!

Hanna: Sorry?

Doctor: (Angry) Nobody ever came in and said, “Oh Doctor! That’s enough about me. How are you?” or said, “How’s your dog? How’s your… your left foot?” NO! Never! You patients kept saying and whining, “Doctor, my left food hurts!” or “Doctor, my right foot hurts!” Nobody ever cared about me! Hanna: (Not sure what to say) Oh… I’ve never ever thought… about…that… A long pause. The doctor keeps writing his notes. A few minutes

later, Hanna starts to speak again. Hanna: So, how’s your day, Doctor?

Doctor: (Angrily putting his pen down) Oh! You’re just stealing my line! Hanna: No, I’m not. I’m just showing my concern for you!

Doctor: You just stole my everyday line I’d say to my patients, “How’s your day?” Hanna: (Speaking louder) Honestly, I really AM showing my concern and care

about you.

Doctor: (Suddenly changing to a calm voice) Sorry. Today is a long, terrible, tiring

day for me.

Hanna: (Looking at her watch) It’s only ten past nine, Doctor. I’m your first patient today.

Doctor: (Pulling himself together) Sorry. Sorry. (Taking a deep breath) So, how can I help you?

Hanna: Well, I have this cut on my finger for two days and it still hurts.

Doctor: (Angry) You what? A small cut? A small cut for two days? (Angry) You come in, waste my time just because of this silly two-day paper cut? Hanna: Sorry…

Doctor: (Taking a deep breath) Alright, I’ll put some medicine on it. Hanna: You’ll do that for me?

Doctor: Do you see anybody else here? (Looking in his drawer) Oh! Well… Sorry, we’ve run out of medicine, so… you maybe want to… take care of the cut yourself? Maybe?

The End of the TestJ

Hello, there! You are now listening to this week’s Top 10 Hot Tunes from DJ Billie. This week, our chart has changed quite a lot. Rolling Petals, formed by two amazing young men in a garage four years ago, released their latest single “Stairway to Your Heart.” The song, out of the blue, soars to the second place from nowhere. Eddie Sheeron’s “Shape of Love” went down from No. 1 to No. 5 last week, and this week it drops to its new-time low. Though “Somebody Just like You” by the Chainshoppers & Hotplay doesn’t rank better than “Shape of Love,” it’s on the chart for over 20 weeks straight! By the way, I love their music video. You’ve got to check it out. And now, you may wonder what the Top 1 song is. Amazingly, this week’s No. 1 goes to “That’s What I Want” by Bruder Mars. Thanks to the movie—A Woman of My Lifetime—that came out recently, the song rises from the bottom of our chart, steals No. 1 from Katy Berry’s “Chained to the Rain” and hits the chart hard. Next up is our No. 1 song, “That’s What I Want.” Enjoy it!
