LT B3 L1 The Day I Broke the Rules

1. think/consider/find + it + Adj./N+ (for sb.) + to VR

1: I don’t think it possible to finish the work by the end of this week. 例 2: My mom finally found it important to learn computer skills.

例 3: The teacher considers it a waste of time to play online games.

例 4: Our boss thinks it necessary that every employee attend the meeting on time.

Review: find/think/consider + O + OC

5: The old lady left the windows open to let some fresh air in. 6: The students consider Carolyn a gentle and caring teacher.

2. seem /appear 似乎

It seems/seemed that S + V → S seem/seemed to V/have p.p.

1: It seems/appears that John has no courage to ask the girl out. → John seems/appears to have no courage to ask the girl out. 例 2: It seems that Mary forgot about the meeting.

→ Mary seems to have forgotten about the meeting. 例 3: It seemed that the professor mistook me for someone

→ The professor seemed to have mistaken me for someone.

seem 的否定有兩種方式:○1 在 seem 前加上助動詞+not ○2 在 seem 後加 not + to V

例 4: They can’t seem to concentrate.

→ They seem not to be able to concentrate. 例 5: It seemed that he hadn’t changed.

→ He did not seem to have changed. → He seemed not to have changed.
