Students and faculty are encouraged to reach out to society via community service programs such as HKUST Connect and the REDbird Award Program. We are also expanding links with our global alumni communities.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The University undertakes proactive recruitment of top global researchers. State-of-the-art equipment and funding support are available. Areas of focus include nano-science and nano-technology; life science and biotechnology; electronics, wireless and information technology; environment and sustainable development; energy; and management education and research. Collaborative activities with government and industry help to develop science and technology in Hong Kong while
international and Mainland China partnerships extend HKUST’s research reach.
RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT
Straddling East and West, HKUST is well connected with Mainland China universities and enterprises while academically aligned with the West. The Fok Ying Tung Graduate School in Nansha, IER center in Shenzhen, Zhejiang Institute for Advanced Manufacturing Institute, and recently agreed Joint School of Sustainable
Development with Xi’an Jiaotong University are helping to build ties in different regions of China.
Strategic partnerships with top global universities are boosting education and research opportunities for HKUST students and academics.
