This research aims to investigate the use of community long-term care service and the factors which influencing the use of this service. This study is based on stratification sampling, and subjects are those who received community long-term care service in Taichung city in 2007.There are 200 subjects randomly selected, including 35 from home nursing care service, 29 from home help service, 13 from day care, 115 from community care station, and 8 from both home help service and home nursing care. A structured questionnaire is adopted to collect data of this study.Results show that there are more female and younger aged recipients, and the average age is 72.99. There are 53.5% of the recipients independent on ADL (activities of daily living) and 61.0% of recipients with moderate IADL (instrumental activities of daily living) disabled. factors that influence the use of community long-term care services are self-
consciousness of health, victims of chronic diseases, and degrees of physical conditions. It is found that many citizens are aware of service and procedure that they received, yet they have little knowledge on other service items. It is expected that this research provides important information to institutions which promote community long-term care service. To accomplish the concept of “aging in place” and decrease disabled degree, the promotion of community long-term care service is definitely essential and urgent.
