VISITOR ARRIVALS
In March 2004, the total number of visitor arrivals increased 36.0% over the same period of 2003 to 1,306,987. Visitors mainly came from Mainland China (including those who travelled under the
“individual visit” scheme), Hong Kong and Taiwan. Same-day visitors accounted for 49.5% of the total arrivals, with 646,848.

In the first quarter of 2004, there were 3,751,447 visitor arrivals, an increase of 25.2% over the same period of last year. There were 672,150 Chinese visitors who travelled under the “individual visit” scheme which accounted for 17.9% of the total arrivals. Same-day visitors made up 49.7% of the total arrivals, with 1,863,015.
Compared with the first quarter of 2003, the number of visitor arrivals by sea was 1,448,431 (+5.3%), among which 1,414,408 (+5.6%) arrived at the Outer Harbour. Arrivals by land totalled at 2,132,211 (+49.0%), of which 2,005,893 (+46.9%) arrived through the Border Gate and 126,318 through the Checkpoint of CoTai.
Arrivals by air were 170,805 (-10.0%), among which 167,474 (-10.4%) arrived at the Macao International Airport.
