VISITOR ARRIVALS

The total number of visitor arrivals reached 1,949,583 in November 2006, representing a year- on-year increase of 21.4%. Visitors from Mainland China; Hong Kong; and Taiwan, China grew 14.5%, 33.9% and 9.1% respectively. In addition, same-day visitors accounted for 51.5% of the total arrivals, at 1,003,355.

In November, 48.0% of the visitor arrivals from Mainland China travelled to Macao under the Individual Visit Scheme, at 513,119.

In the first eleven months of 2006, visitor arrivals totalled 19,835,205, which have surpassed the annual total of 2005 (18,711,187), up 16.4% over the same period of last year. Same-day visitors, at 10,237,410, made up 51.6% of the total.

Compared with the same period of last year, visitor arrivals by sea rose 13.2% to 6,900,231 in the first eleven months of 2006, with 6,562,275 arriving at the Outer Harbour. The cumulative arrivals through the Border Gate soared 25.9% to 11,816,570. Arrivals by air totalled 1,118,404 (+17.2%), with 1,109,147 arriving at the Macao International Airport (+17.4%).
