VISITOR ARRIVALS

Attributable to the Ching Ming and Easter holiday, the number of visitor arrivals surged to a new official monthly statistics of 2,226,968 in April 2007, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.1%. Visitors from Mainland China; Hong Kong and Taiwan, China registered growth of 15.3%, 22.1% and 4.9% respectively. Meanwhile, same- day visitors accounted for 51.6% of the total arrivals, at 1,150,018.

Among the Mainland visitors, 50.8% travelled to Macao under the Individual Visit Scheme, at 579,620.

In the first four months of 2007, visitor arrivals totalled 8,596,632, up by 20.8% over the same period of last year. Same-day visitors made up 52.2% of the total, at 4,490,905.

Visitor arrivals by sea increased by 13.2% to 2,920,002 over the first four months of 2006; meanwhile, arrivals by land grew by 25.5% to 5,206,238. Arrivals by air rose by 19.8% to 470,392.
