Many tourists, domestic or foreign, enjoy visiting Longshan Temple for its unique traditional Chinese cultural experience. However, the barrier in culture and language also discourages many from such visit. The work, Lai-Bwabei, is an automated oracle machine/service counter. Tourists can purchase souvenirs containing RFID and QR Code that be used to trigger an oracle from the machine. Such virtual experience not only simplifies the visit to the temple, but also provides tourists tokens of memory and establishes the temple’s reputation.

HURRAY CHAIR
Advisor Ι Prof. Jeng-Neng Fan Teamember Ι Shih-Chan Chiu
Department of Industrial and Commercial Design, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology
Hurray Chair is inspired by Origami techniques from the past. A plain sheet of 3 mm polypropylene is scored with the use of CNC milling and then folded by hand into three-dimensional product.
The use of CNC milling requires extremely few resources and less cost in tooling investment. Using these simplified solutions as well as economical manufacturing processes that do not rely on high investments lead to pro- ducing competitive products through the design of new forms.

After a natural disaster, those who survive can hardly gather the necessary food and fuel to carry on. This work utilizes the solar-powered stove and dried foods such as instant noodles to compose an emergency kit. The kit may be delivered to each camp or locations of disaster and provide refugees a temporary cooking solution. The stove can be easily assembled within 30 minutes to heat foods and water. Also, the stove features an indicator to lo- cate sun light (absence of shadow indicates direct sun light), which enhances the efficiency and convenience of the stove.

Working at the boundaries of handcraft and design, Embroidered Furniture applies artisanal techniques to create a unique concept that imbues abandoned objects with a magic that transcends their original function.
“Forsaken” defines the word abandoned and many objects can be described as thus; however a new paradigm, has emerged, which challenges the traditional boundaries between old, new, analogue and digital, which can be described as
“the meeting of objects and materials in a story of responsive exchange.” Form- ing aesthetic couplings, seemingly insignificant items are artfully reconfigured to form a synthesized whole; and in the process, create new and unexpected meanings. A celebration of “re-use,” this concept makes clear its concern about wasting resources; and through using abandoned objects explores our relation- ship with discarded objects (and technology).

The U-shaped body of FloatingBay is designed to greatly enhance the snorke- ling experience. The solar-powered engine is activated with sensors embed- ded in handles, and allows users to cruise at swimming speeds while enjoying the scenary. Multiple FloatingBays can be linked together to form larger resting areas for parties or leisure sunbath. Also noteworthy is that the shade from sail is designed to filter sunlight so users may enjoy mild sunbaths even when the sun is scorching. The FloaringBay is the perfect getaway vehicle for families. Its safty features include GPS auto pilot and auto park. Even if you are not a professional at snorkeling, you can still enjoy a fantastic journey.
