Principal Indicators
There were 1,584 live births delivered in the fourth quarter, an increase of 64 quarter-to-quarter; meanwhile, mortality decreased by 39 to 538. In 2019, a total of 5,979 live births were recorded, up by 54 year-on-year, and mortality increased by 213 to 2,282.
Chinese immigrants decreased by 39 quarter-to-quarter to 897 in the fourth quarter; individuals granted right of abode totalled 250, down by 16. In 2019, Chinese immigrants increased by 6.4% to 3,757.
Non-resident workers totalled 196,538 at end-2019, up by 4.3% year-on-year.
Total population was 679,600 at end-2019, an increase of 12,200 year-on-year; female population was 362,200, accounting for 53.3% of the total.
