DEMOGRAPHIC STATISTICS

Population Change

Total population was 672,000, an increase of 1,100 quarter-to-quarter; female population accounted for 53.2% of the total.

There were 1,400 live births delivered, a decrease of 75 quarter-to-quarter. The sex ratio at birth stood at 110.5. Mortality totalled 542, down by 73 quarter-to- quarter. In the first half of 2019, live births and mortality increased by 0.7% and 15.8% respectively year-on-year.

Chinese immigrants decreased by 630 quarter-to-quarter to 647, while individuals granted right of abode increased by 119 to 285.

Non-resident workers totalled 190,367 at the end of the second quarter, up by 852 quarter-to-quarter.
