Total population was estimated at 582 000 at end-2012, an increase of 6 300 (+1.1%) from end-September.
Net natural increase of population was 1 665 in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Number of live births was 2 109, up by 136 (+6.9%) quarter-to-quarter, with 1 134 male babies. Gender ratio of the newborn stood at 116.3, corresponding to 116.3 male babies per 100 female babies.
Mortality cases totalled 444, up by 37 cases (+9.1%) quarter-to-quarter, mortality at age 65 and above accounted for 63.7%.
The top three underlying causes of death were Neoplasms (175 cases), Diseases of the Circulatory System (107 cases) and Diseases of the Respiratory System (59 cases).
Non-resident workers totalled 110 552 at the end of the fourth quarter, up by 1 514 quarter-to-quarter; besides, a net inflow of 225 individuals authorized to reside in Macao.
There were 775 immigrants from Mainland China whereas 276 illegal immigrants were repatriated to the Mainland, down by 702 and 32 quarter-to-quarter respectively.
Marriage registration totalled 982 cases in the fourth quarter, up by 163 quarter-to-quarter.
