There were 1,441 live births delivered, an increase of 27 quarter-to-quarter. The sex ratio at birth stood at 111.0. Mortality totalled 473, down by 49 quarter-to- quarter. In the first half of 2018, live births and mortality decreased by 9.5% and 3.3% respectively year-on-year.

Chinese immigrants decreased by 233 quarter-to-quarter to 774, while individuals granted right of abode increased by 42 to 315.

Non-resident workers totalled 181,499 at the end of the second quarter, up by 154 quarter-to-quarter.
