◆ Course Description &Objectives:
Introduction to English Broadcasting Skills is an advanced elective aimed at introducing the junior students to enhance the broadcasting skills of English media. The focus of the class will be on comprehension, analysis, and presentation of English print and broadcast news. The course will begin with the “news writing”, covering topics such as story structure, headlines and endings, using examples from English newspapers, magazines or online materials for illustration. In addition to materials readings, “DJ’s Time” and “Anchor’s Show” will be held, in which students will be assigned an area of news (e.g., traffic, world, sports, entertainment) to cover and discuss with peers and each group will be recorded to make a demo tape. Besides, students will be arranged to visit news studios such as ICRT and Formosa TV Station. Upon completion of the course, it is expected that the students will not only have the ability to comprehend a variety of English broadcast materials, but also be skilled with the broadcasting forms in our daily lives.
