TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS STATISTICS
New registration of motor vehicles in July dropped by 17.9% year-on-year, owing to a decline of 28.8% in heavy motorcycles. In the first seven months of 2018, new registration of motor vehicles went down by 0.1% year-on-year. Licensed motor vehicles at end-July dropped by 1.9% year-on-year to 238,077, with light motorcycles and light automobiles falling by 11.8% and 2.2% respectively.
Number of traffic accidents decreased by 17.2% year-on-year in July and number of victims totalled 343, with 1 of them being killed. A total of 2,527 traffic casualties were recorded in the first seven months.
Commercial flight movements in July rose by 12.7% year-on-year; flight movements to and from Mainland China and Thailand expanded by 20.5% and 22.2%
respectively, while movements to and from the Republic of Korea dropped by 24.8%. Commercial flight movements in the first seven months increased by 13.1% year-on-year.

Internet subscribers went up by 8.9% year-on-year, whereas the duration of internet usage fell by 3.9%. In the first seven months of 2018, the cumulative duration of internet usage inched up by 0.3% year-on-year to 719 million hours.
