No.10 VISITOR ARRIVALS
In October 2002, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 971,074, equivalent to an increase of 13.3% over October 2001. Visitors came mainly from Hong Kong (40.3%), Mainland China (39.3%) and Taiwan (14.5%). Same-day visitors accounted for 47.9% of the total arrivals, at 465,588.
In the first ten months of 2002, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 9,461,219, up 10.6% over the same period of 2001. Furthermore, same-day visitors reached 4,070,014, which shared 43.0% of the total visitor arrivals.
Compared with the first ten months of 2001, the cumulative number of visitors arrived by sea rose 8.2%, to 4,736,739.
Among these visitors, 4,634,170 arrived at the Outer Harbour, a growth of 8.8%. Arrivals by land totalled at 3,960,867, an increase of 14.6%; 3,820,556 arrived through the Border Gate and 140,311 through the Checkpoint of CoTai. Arrivals by air reached 763,613 (+5.9%); with 753,133 arrivals (+6.1%) at the Macao International Airport.
