PACKAGE TOURS AND HOTEL OCCUPANCY RATE
Visitor arrivals in package tours totalled 475,806 in April 2009, with the majority coming from Mainland China (364,571); Taiwan, China (28,188); and Hong Kong (21,262). Meanwhile, there were 18,728 Macao residents travelling outbound in package tours and 37,298 travelling under own arrangements with services of travel agencies.

At the end of April 2009, there were 17,535 guest rooms available in the hotel sector. The average hotel occupancy rate for April 2009 dropped by 1.8 percentage points year-on-year to 73.6%; the average length of stay of hotel guests was 1.34 nights, up slightly by 0.01 night over April 2008.
A total of 577,228 guests checked into hotels and similar establishments in April 2009, up by 6.0% year- on-year, with the majority of the guests coming from Mainland China (51.6%) and Hong Kong (23.2%).
