GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN FORUM AT HKUST
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) will host a forum on global supply chain management from 16 to 17 October.
The first of its kind in Hong Kong, the Global Supply Chain Management Forum will bring together about 100 academics, researchers and senior executives from leading global companies from the US, Europe, the Chinese Mainland, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
"We will focus on new trends and opportunities in the management of global supply chain in the Asia Pacific region," said Dr Chung Lun Li, forum organizer and Associate Professor at the Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management Department.
"The forum provides a good opportunity for participants around the world to exchange ideas and views on the problems and solutions to global supply chain management," he said.
Supply chain management is a cost-effective link among various business processes along the supply chain, including product design,
manufacturing, inventory planning, information systems, distribution, purchasing and marketing.
Prominent speakers of the forum include Prof Hau Lee from Stanford
University, Prof Mitchell Tseng from HKUST, as well as senior executives from leading global players such as Deloitte Consulting, DHL
International Ltd, Hewlett-Packard Company and Lucent Technologies. They will speak on e-Business and global supply chain management, and share their own experience on the practice of supply chain management.
The forum is co-sponsored by the HKUST Logistics and Supply Chain Forum, the Stanford Global Supply Chain Management Forum and the European Forum on Global Supply Chain Management. In 1997, the three forums formed a strategic alliance to build up a global network between academia and industrial organizations for the advancement of research and development of good practices on global supply chain management.
