《引文索引之建置與應用》一書可謂臺灣地區第一本針對引用文獻索引 （Citation Index，以後行文以引文索引稱之）資料庫，建置之實作專著。作者為臺

灣人文學引文索引資料庫（Taiwan Humanities Citation Index，簡稱 THCI）之負責

人，在行政院國家科學委員會人文學研究中心（Center for Humanities Research，

簡稱HRC）贊助下，執行 THCI 之建置工作。經過長期的實務累積，綜合多年

（1999 年至 2005 年）的研究計畫成果，精煉集結成書出版。關於 THCI 軟硬體

系統平台、工作人員資訊系統的設計（引文資料的建檔與相關的工具程式）、使 用者資訊系統的設計、引文分析的功能設計等內容，作者均給予深入的說明與討 論，為中文引文索引資料庫的建置，提供相當寶貴的參考價值。

綜觀全書以THCI 之建置為主軸，並旁及引文分析（Citation Analysis）的相

關論述。全書共計十一章，除了第一章的緒論與第十一章的結論之外，其餘各章 的內容如下：第二章：國內外引文分析相關研究文獻以及國內人文學期刊文獻之 引用特性。第三章：美國科學資訊研究所（Institute for Scientific Information，ISI）

發行之各類引文索引資料庫之介紹。第四章：中國大陸中文引文索引資料庫等之 收錄範圍、提供的功能以及建置的工作模式與流程。第五章：臺灣引文分析研究 的現況。第六章至第九章，共計四章，為本書的實作研究成果的精華，主要說明 與THCI 相關的課題，包括：THCI 的系統架構、THCI 資料建置子系統、THCI

資料建置的政策與規範，以及THCI 引文資料的校正。此外，作者亦以國內語言 學研究為例，運用THCI 的數據資料進行實證研究，探討該學科的現況與發展趨 勢，有關此部分的內容呈現於第十章。 本書另外深具價值之部分為日本與中國大陸引文索引現況介紹，其中大陸的 部分，內容較完整，日本的介紹則較簡略。除了正文之外，本書尚提供了六個附 錄，分別是：（一）THCI 收錄期刊初選表（366 種）、（二）THCI 預計收錄期 刊一覽表（312 種）、（三）THCI 實際收錄期刊一覽表（251 種）、（四）THCI 依學科分類之實際收錄期刊表、（五）THCI 已建檔之期刊與卷期一覽表、（六） 臺灣、大陸與國外引文索引研究相關學術文獻。其中附錄五，依期刊之學科分 類，提供THCI 截至 2005 年 8 月已建檔之期刊與卷期，對讀者查閱特定期刊 被THCI 收錄之情況助益良多。附錄六整理了臺灣、大陸與國外，2000 年之後出 版之文獻清單，對引文索引研究的閱讀幫助很大。

179 蔡明月／書評：陳光華著《引文索引之建置與應用》 ₁₇₉ 綜合論之，本書以THCI 之建置工作為經，引文分析之研究為緯，成就一本 理論與實務並重之專著，為引文索引資料庫之建置者，舖展了學習之坦途。 一般而言，專書內容廣泛，暇疵自是難免，若能稍加注意，將使本書更臻完 美，茲列舉數端如下： （一）本書章節的編排以及內容次序之邏輯性略顯不足。例如：第五章既是 臺灣之引文分析，何以第二節又出現國外的研究。此外，第一節與第二節有重疊 之處，因為第一節大多數引文分析研究也都是人文學，建議可以與第二節第二項 合併。 （二）第三章介紹ISI 引文索引資料庫，有些內容過時，例如：ISI 引文索引 資料庫提供四種基本索引：被引文獻索引、來源文獻索引、交換標題索引、團體 作者索引是紙本式版本，目前已不出版。此外，有些內容有訛誤，例如：SCI（目 前尚有光碟版）期刊種數為3800 多種，SCIE（網路版）才是 5900 多種；又如： 1975 年時是 ISI 不是 Thomson。作者關於 ISI 與 Thomson ISI 的關係未釐清，亦

即ISI 在 1993 年才轉售給 Thomson 公司，以至於第三章內容常造成混亂。再 且，有些內容簡略，例如：第六節ISI 引文索引的應用。 （三）書中有不少圖的呈現，有關其內容並未有文字說明與之配合，造成閱 讀上的不易了解。 （四）引用大陸作品最好將其用語轉換成臺灣適用者。 （五）圖1-2 SCI 的檢索途徑為紙本式的作法，目前已不存在，應舉網路版為 例說明較適切。總之，事實性的資料，例如：年代、收集期刊種數等，最好能加 上引註，以昭公信。 最後，目前引文索引資料庫已不是ISI 獨霸的天下，作者若能補充其他系 統，例如：Scopus 或 SciFinder，將使本書更臻完善。

Abstract

On the basis of building the Taiwan Humanities Citation Index (THCI) database, this book not only demonstrates the construction of citation index database but also describes some theories and applications of citation index. It is the first work, in Taiwan, discussing thoroughly the structure of a Chinese citation index database. Special features include hardware, software, system platform, programming schema, standards and policy, etc for creating a citation index database. Moreover, the current development of citation index systems in China and Japan is also covered and, therefore, this book provides valuable information for readers. However, some minor flaws, such as the out-of-date introduction of ISI’s citation index databases, lack of description on some of the figures and tables, etc., could be modified to make the book more readable.
