JHHSU English: writing Conference Papers Ⅰ、Ⅱ 2011-2012

A General Introduction to the Course Structure

This course consists of two independent semester sub-courses. In other words, students may take the first semester without taking the second, but not vice versa.

However, it is suggested that students take both.

The topics and writings covered in the first semester are more basic, and the second semester will deal more directly with conference paper writing.

The first semester stresses mainly the writing skills. First, the basic structural differences between Chinese and English will be compared and examined so that students will not try to make direct translations when they write English sentences.

Second, the different types of writings will be introduced and practiced.

The second semester will focus on writing a term paper or a conference paper. It begins with the inception of an idea, and how this idea is to be developed and

logically organized. The writing process will be explained and practiced.
