VISITOR ARRIVALS
In July 2001, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 850,714, equivalent to an increase of 0.3% over July 2000.
Visitors came mainly from Hong Kong (52.8%), Mainland China (26.1%), Taiwan (15.3%) and Japan (1.3%). Same-day visitors shared 44.2% of the total arrivals, with 375,651.
In the first seven months of 2001, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 5,860,416, up 12.4% over the same period of 2000, while 2,578,218 were same-day visitors (44.0% of the total).
Compared with the first seven months of 2000, the cumulative number of arrivals by sea went down 0.3%, with 3,035,956. Among these visitors, 2,950,788 arrived at the Outer Harbour, which represented a 3.9% growth. Arrivals by land totalled at 2,321,341, an increase of 37.8%; 2,254,736 arrived through the Border Gate and 66,605 visitors arrived through the Checkpoint of CoTai. Arrivals by air were 503,119 (+4.1%); with 494,655 arrivals (+5.6%) at the Macao International Airport.
