VISITOR ARRIVALS
In November 2001, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 821,749, equivalent to an increase of 12.4% over November 2000. Visitors came mainly from Hong Kong (45.8%), Mainland China (34.7%), Taiwan (13.7%) and Japan (1. 3%).
Same-day visitors shared 41.7% of the total arrivals, with 342,848.
From January to November 2001, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 9,377,561, up 12.3% over the same period of 2000. Furthermore, same-day visitors reached 4,061,011, which represented 43.3% of the total visitor arrivals. The cumulative figure for the first eleven months in 2001 surpassed the annual total of 9,162,212 in 2000.
Compared with the first eleven months of 2000, the cumulative number of arrivals by sea went up 0.7%, with 4,787,443.
Among these visitors, 4,659,311 arrived at the Outer Harbour, which represented a 3.9% growth. Arrivals by land totalled at 3,801,282, an increase of 34.3%; 3,674,827 arrived through the Border Gate and 126,455 visitors arrived through the Checkpoint of CoTai. A rrivals by air were 788,836 (+2.5%); with 776,297 arrivals (+3.6%) at the Macao International Airport.
