VISITOR ARRIVALS
In October 2001, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 856,954, equivalent to an increase of 9.7% over October 2000. Visitors came mainly from Hong Kong (47.1%), Mainland China (33.0%), Taiwan (14.2%) and Japan (1.0%). Same-day visitors shared 43.1% of the total arrivals, with 369,034.
From January to October 2001, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 8,555,812, up 12.3% over the same period of 2000, while 3,718,163 were same-day visitors (43.5% of the total).
Compared with the first ten months of 2000, the cumulative number of arrivals by sea went up 0.1% , with 4,379,475.
Among these visitors, 4,261,217 arrived at the Outer Harbour, which represented a 3.4% growth. Arrivals by land totalled at 3,455,256, an increase of 35.8%; 3,345,605 arrived through the Border Gate and 109,651 visitors arrived through the Checkpoint of CoTai. A rrivals by air were 721,081 (+2.8%); with 709,623 arrivals (+4.0%) at the Macao International Airport.
