VISITOR ARRIVALS
Visitor arrivals reached a total of 1,812,699 in March 2006, which represented a year-on-year increase of 18.2%. Visitors from Mainland China and Hong Kong grew 26.2% and 7.1%
respectively, but those from Taiwan, China decreased 3.7%. In addition, same-day visitors accounted for 52.5% of the total arrivals, at 951,060.
In March, 50.4% of the visitor arrivals from Mainland China travelled to Macao under the Individual Visit Scheme, at 525,880.
In the first quarter of 2006, visitor arrivals totalled 5,248,018, up 17.7% over the same period of last year.
Same-day visitors, at 2,753,868, made up 52.5% of the total.
Compared with the same period of last year, visitor arrivals by sea went up 18.7% to 1,890,662 in the first quarter of 2006, with 1,789,355 arriving at the Outer Harbour (+15.5%). Arrivals through the Border Gate soared to 3,072,237, up 27.0%. Arrivals by air were 285,119 (+16.8%), with 282,092 arrived at the Macao International Airport (+16.8%).
