VISITOR ARRIVALS

Total number of visitor arrivals in December 2004 was 1,518,402, which corresponded to a year-on- year increase of 24.1%. Visitors came mainly from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, China.

Same-day visitors accounted for 50.1% of the total arrivals, at 760,139.

In 2004, visitor arrivals totalled 16,672,556, up 40.3% over 2003. There were 3,518,752 Mainland China visitors who travelled under the Individual Visit Scheme, which accounted for 21.1% of the total arrivals.

Same-day visitors, at 8,349,125, made up 50.1% of the total.

Compared with 2003, visitor arrivals by sea went up 21.8% to 6,304,563 in 2004, with 6,168,004 arriving at the Outer Harbour (+21.3%). Arrivals by land soared to 9,506,210, up 56.9%, with 8,810,914 arriving through the Border Gate (+52.2%) and 695,296 through the Checkpoint of CoTai. Arrivals by air were 861,783, up 31.7%, among which 844,147 arrived at the Macao International Airport (+31.8%).
