VISITOR ARRIVALS
In November 2002, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 1,003,197, equivalent to an increase of 22.1% over November 2001. Visitors came mainly from Mainland China (44.4%), Hong Kong (37.2%) and Taiwan (12.1%). Same-day visitors accounted for 44.0% of the total arrivals, at 441,137.
In the first eleven months of 2002, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 10,464,416, up 11.6% over the same period of 2001. The cumulative figure for the first eleven months in 2002 surpassed the annual total of 10,278,973 in 2001. Furthermore, same-day visitors reached 4,511,151, which shared 43.1% of the total visitor arrivals.
Compared with the first eleven months of 2001, the cumulative number of visitors arrived by sea rose 8.7%, to 5,204,630. Among these visitors, 5,090,054 arrived at the Outer Harbour, a growth of 9.2%. Arrivals by land totalled at 4,423,463, an increase of 16.4%; 4,270,521 arrived through the Border Gate and 152,942 through the Checkpoint of CoTai.
Arrivals by air reached 836,323 (+6.0%); with 824,525 arrivals (+6.2%) at the Macao International Airport.
