VISITOR ARRIVALS

In November 2000, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 731,387, equivalent to an increase of 11.5%

over November 1999. Visitors came mainly from Hong Kong (49.3%), Mainland China (26.7%) and Taiwan (16.1%).

In the first eleven months of 2000, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 8,352,787, up 22.8% over the same period of 1999. In addition, this figure exceeds the record-breaking number of 8,151,055 arrivals peaked at 1996.

Compared with the first eleven months of 1999, the cumulative number of arrivals by sea rose 16.9% , with 4,752,245. Among these visitors, 4,484,610 arrived at the Outer Harbour, which represented a 14.1% growth. Arrivals by land totalled at 2,830,642, an increase of 33.4%, 2,790,037 arrived through the Border Gate and 40,605 visitors arrived through the Checkpoint of CoTai. Arrivals by air went up 24.8%, with 769,900, meanwhile, arrivals at the Macao International Airport increased by 27.5%, with 749,454.
