課程學習目標
1. Students will learn how to generate ideas, write thesis statements, topic sentences and well-organized essays on the modes decided by all CCI teachers.
2. Students will learn to outline and summarize their ideas.
3. Students will master basic language skills such as capitalization, punctuation, verb tenses, and word forms (part of speech).
4. Students will learn to avoid plagiarism and document borrowed ideas and sentences properly in MLA style.
5. Students will learn Romanization and know how to introduce Chinese characters in their writing.

1.No late papers are accepted unless an official slip of absence is attached to the paper which is supposed to submit immediately the following day.
2. One who is flunked in either composition or conversation has to retake both courses.
3. Absence (excused + unexcused) 3 or over 3 times a semester means the failure of the course. Lateness 3 times = 1 absence.

A. Writing
1. Each submitted paper has to have the audience, purpose and ordering rule clearly stated.
2. Each submitted paper has to have the topic sentence/-s and/or thesis statement/-s clearly underlined or marked.
3. Each final paper has to consist of the process sheet/-s with your writing process clearly on; 1 copy of the peer reviewed 1st draft plus 1 peer feedback sheets; 1 copy of the teacher reviewed, 2nd draft (if with a 2nd draft); and the final product.
4. Any paper not meeting the requirements stated above or delayed without permission in advance will be rejected.
5. If you are absent on the day when an assignment is supposed to submit, put your assignment together with the official slip for your leave of absence into my mail box in the English Department the next day. Otherwise your paper will be considered delayed and hence rejected.
B. Speaking
1. Try your best to speak English in class all the time and actively participate in class activities.
2. If you are absent on the day when an oral task is supposed to be presented, show me the official slip for your leave of absence so that a makeup may be arranged before or in the next class.
C. Reading
1. Underline the topic sentence/-s and/or thesis statement/-s.
2. Mark the major supporting detail/-s.
3. Circle the key word/-s.
