This course is designed for students who need to work as an occupational therapist in the near future or those who just want to learn more about occupational therapy. This course will provide information on the history, philosophy, conceptual basis, roles, function, and scope of practice of occupational therapy. Issues related to occupational therapy for special needs population will be addressed from perspectives of clinical
practitioners and researchers.

Evaluation/Grading
Exams 70% (Midterm 30%; Final examination: 40%) Participation in class 30%
Attendance
The instructor needs to be informed via email or phone by the absentee prior to the class. Any absence requires an official note from a doctor if you are sick, or an official excuse from a university official if it is an absence because of school business. Any unexcused absence will drop your grade 10 points from Participation. If you have more than 3 (including 3) unexcused absences, you are not allowed to take the final exam.
