VISITOR ARRIVALS
In September 2001, the number of visitor arrivals in Macao was 782,913, equivalent to an increase of 7.9% over September 2000. Visitors came mainly from Hong Kong (48.5%), Mainland China (31.2%), Taiwan ( 14.2%) and Japan (1.5%).
Same-day visitors shared 42.6% of the total arrivals, with 333,907.
From January to September 2001, the cumulative number of visitor arrivals reached 7,698,858, up 12.6% over the same period of 2000, while 3,349,129 were same-day visitors (43.5% of the total).
Compared with the first nine months of 2000, the cumulative number of arrivals by sea went down 0.1% , with 3,962,021. Among these visitors, 3,854,831 arrived at the Outer Harbour, which represented a 3.5% growth. Arrivals by land totalled at 3,091,304, an increase of 37.5%; 2,996,715 arrived through the Border Gate and 94,589 visitors arrived through the Checkpoint of CoTai. Arrivals by air were 645,533 (+2.9%); with 635,120 arrivals (+4.2%) at the Macao International Airport.
