few years ago, there was an animated film called Farewell, which had a great influence on me. When I first saw a polar bear floating on a tiny and solitary iceberg before it drowned, I would never forget its hopeless eyes calling for the aid from the world. That scene really shocked me substantially and made me reexamine our environmental problem with caution.
owadays, due to the rapid development of industry, the issue of air pollution has threat ened not only the environment but also our human health. Every single day, with a great amount of carbon dioxide discharged by tens of thousands of vehicles, it has become much difficult than ever for people to live in an environmentally friendly world. If people would rather sit back and let the problem remained unsolved, it would be just a matter of time before it is our turn to say farewell to the earth. In consequence, as one of the dwellers on this planet, we all have the duty to fix the tough issue and keep the annoying disturbance at bay without any delay.
n order to cut down the amount of carbon dioxide, there isn’t a better way than refining and promoting public transportation. As far as public transportation is concerned, there are three major advantages that it provides. First and foremost, if commuters make good use of public transportation, the traffic problems will definitely be improved considerably. In addi-tion, it will be one of the solutions to the problem of petrol exhaustion. Secondly, if the public transportation becomes more advanced and popular, it will boast tourism as well. To make things better, it will absolutely attract many more tourists from every corner of the globe to come and visit Taiwan, our beautiful island, thanks to the help of the public transportation. Last but not least, the most important of all, with all the decrease of air pollution, people’s health will undoubtedly improve greatly. With all the profits mentioned above, the improvement of public transportation must be put into action immediately.
s the saying goes, “Thought is the seed of action,” I couldn’t agree more, but my prefer ence is, “Action speaks louder than words.” In the face of all the difficulties we may encounter, as long as we get the hang of environmental protection, I firmly believe that we still have a promising future. After all, it’s only people on the earth that can make this world a better place to live in.

He is a Girl

Photo by www.hitfix.comf there is a man dressed like a woman and he also considers himself as a female, do you think he is a male or female?
reakfast on Pluto" is a book about an abandoned boy looking for his birth mother. However; the main character, Patrick Kitten, considers himself as a woman since he was a little boy and always kept a very decisive attitude about his gender. Nobody can change who he wants to become. Patrick Kitten learns to love and also to be loved by other people through the journey of search-ing for his mother.
reakfast on Pluto" is a book about transgender issues like the movie "The Danish Girl" which was shown recently. The book "Breakfast on Pluto" not only refers to the issue of transgender, but also talks about the LGBT issue. There are more and more people around the world choosing to step forward to support LGBT people. It's really amazing to see society become much more accepting to different kinds of people. However, does society "really" accept those unique individ-uals? In fact, they're still suffering unjust treatment.
irst of all, LGBT people can't have the marriage rights in some particular countries or states. It means that they can't marry people they love, even if their love for each other is totally the same as others. Those who are against homosexuals or bisexuals getting married can't understand how painful is it to love somebody but have no ability to give another person an eternal prom-ise. What's worse, if their companions need an emergency surgery and someone to sign the surgery agreement, they can't sign the agreement legally. The only thing they can do is to contact someone else, otherwise their companions may die because of this unjust law.
econd, there are actually lots of people who discriminate against LGBT groups and believe that homosexuals cause HIV. Those people blame the innocent people because of such a ridiculous myth. In fact, according to the statistics, the number of heterosexuals who have HIV is much higher than the number of homosex-uals or bisexhomosex-uals.
n American rock singer called "Adam Lambert" once said, "God doesn't hate gays. I think he hates hate. Being gay is not a disability." Adam Lam-bert chose to come out in a Rolling Stone interview and insisted to be himself. It was such a brave behavior to come out as a celebrity to everyone. Although there are many people who dislike him because of his sexual orientation, it's undeniable that his songs are very inspiring and his voice is unbeatable.
once went to a pride parade in Taipei with my friends, it was the biggest one so far in Asia. The weather was nice and so were the people in the parade. The people could wear whatever they liked and didn’t have to be worried about others’ opinions. Almost everybody held different kinds of signs to support LGBT people and walked around Taipei City. It was so awesome to see everybody happy and confident to stand out and show people their traits.
eople shouldn't be worried about showing who they really are or feel guilty and embarrassed about it. If our society accepts those LGBT people unconditionally, then this world would be a better place to live in. "The change" can be started by any one of us from now on. It’s important to understand that each person in this world is born to be unique. LGBT people should be proud of themselves for they are the most wonderful and beautiful people in this remarkable world!
A Sinful Divine Contract

arriage is an important occasion in a person`s life. Two people fall in love with each other and decide to spend the rest of their life together. Therefore, these two people get married; their love will be witnessed by all their relatives, friends and God. However, besides, marry-ing your relatives, there is another type of marriage that is still illegal and probably won`t be blessed in Taiwan. That is, the marriage of homosexuals, or in a more common expression, gay marriage. This is also a divine combination that shouldn`t be discrimi-nated.
ay marriage is always a disputed issue in
not only Eastern but Western cultures, especially in Eastern culture. The tradi-tional idea of continuing the family name and the influence of parental authority may result in many serious problems. In those countries that don`t allow gay marriage, most of the gay couples experience discrimination. These couples did nothing wrong but love someone. Can this be considered as a sin, a crime?
here are so many tragedies that result from gay marriage not being considered an official relationship. Someone might think that this may not be big deal; in fact, not being admitted as an official relationship is a really serious problem. Just take a hospital situation as an exam-ple. The doctor needs to operate immediately but a paper needs to be signed by relatives. The gay couples couldn`t do anything but watch their beloved suffer until the paper is signed. How sad can this kind of situation be? The gay couples are exactly the same as heterosexual couples in this respect.
here are still some groups of people who say that gay marriage is a sin, which disobeys God`s will, gay marriage can`t continue the species or it will result in the wrong common idea. For the first statement, God also said slavery is legal and women have no rights. Is slav-ery legal now? No. Do women have rights? Yes. The second idea, gay couples can adopt. Gay couples can raise children equally as well as hetero-sexual couples. Finally, do all the heterohetero-sexual fam-ily`s kids have the same ideas? Is there an exact common idea? I don`t think so.
ay marriage should be legal in Taiwan as soon as possible. In this way, gay couples won`t have to hide in neither the shadow nor be discriminated against. Just like a joke said, if all the homosexuals started to marry the other gender, trust me, none of the heterosexual people could find a wife or husband.
It Is Never Wrong To Love
Rock Wu
吳奇益
CX102102
hy is it that when two people are crazily in love but can’t get married just because a relative says that they can’t? On this planet, millions of people are facing the same situation. Who are they? They call themselves the LGBT group, which individually means lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. In a normal situation, a man mar-ries a woman. That is what every religion teaches us. However, these people are not quite the same. A man falls in love with a man, a woman wants to marry to a woman, a woman who used to be a man wants to marry a man, or a man wants to build a family with a man who used to be a woman. It sounds complicated; however, it is quite different from “normal thinking”. They are in love, but why they can’t have the same rights that normal spouses have?
egalizing same sex marriage is very important for those who do not receive protection from the government. For example, gay couples could not have the day off for taking care of their “part-ner”. In another situation, gay couples could not do anything when their “partner” is in hospital for they are not legally related. This won’t be a problem for those who are “normal”. Yet, the word “normal” is full of discrimination. By being married, they could have all the rights just like everyone else. Some gay couples work hard together, but after one of them left the world, the other one does not have the right to inherit from him or her. Isn’t that heartbreaking? There is a story about two lesbians, who fell in love with each other when they were young. When reaching their 70s’, one of them got really sick and was hospitalized. She needed surgery and the hospital needed a family member to sign the agreement for the surgery. She, the partner of the one who was sick, couldn’t sign the paper, for the law didn’t make her a wife. Finally, one of her relatives arrived, but it was too late. She passed away. What’s worse, the partner of the deceased could not inherit the fortune they made together.
W
L
egalizing same sex marriage is also a hope from the edge. In Taiwan, same sex marriage is not legal and somehow considered as a kind of disease. However, there are few legislators who work really hard to legalize this union. Those legisla-tors care about the voice from the social vulnerable groups. All the LGBT group wants is a piece of paper, the marriage certificate. With it, they can have the same rights as the married men and women. With it, they can have the blessing from the outside. Once it is legalized, people will get used to it.
t is true that legalizing same sex marriage will bring a lot of doubts for parents. They might consider that it might change the social atmosphere, it might teach their children to be “different”, and it might bring a lot of “HIV virus” to society. The truth is, the “HIV virus” is not only infected by gay people. All the people who do not have protected sex might get HIV. Moreover, being different is not the right way to describe the LGBT groups. In my opinion, people are different in their own way. People choose different ways to love, choose different jobs, and choose different ways to dress. People choose differently, and that is what makes everyone different. However, being gay or lesbian is not a choice for those people. The famous talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, who
came out as a lesbian, said, “I was raised around heterosexuals, as all
heterosexuals are. That's where us gay people come from - you heterosexuals.” Lady Gaga, the famous pop singer, once said, “It’s always wrong to hate, but it’s never wrong to love.” People should accept the way they are originally. In addition, we should all accept those who show the way they are born.
believe that they do not choose to be a member of the LGBT group, but were born to be one. They spend a lot of their own life figuring it out, but are shunned by others. They try so hard to be themselves bravely, but are hated by others. They are also people that live on Earth. They should have the same rights that everyone else has.

The Necessity for the Abolishment
of the Death Penalty
Cindy KE
柯思宇
CX102116
he issue of death penalty is still complicated in Taiwan, and there is no consensus between the opposite sides. Although all of us agree that the criminals should take the responsibilities for their crimes, it is not necessary to execute them. In my opinion, the reasons that I am against capital punishment are as follows: the possibility of killing the wrong person, the discussion of better methods for punishment and the demand for criminals’ labor.
irst of all, the death penalty might cause the wrong person to be killed, and the justice of the
society might no longer be the “real” justice. In fact, not all the criminal cases have sufficient evidence; therefore, there is a great chance to make the wrong judgment in court. The abolish-ment of capital punishabolish-ment could avoid the miscarriage of justice.
econdly, there are a lot of discussions about the criminal punishment system. The current crim
inal statutes are not completely comprehensive and there must be another method to punish criminals instead of the death penalty. For instance, we could make the imprisonment time with no limitation, so the criminals who commit more serious crimes would stay in jail longer with less of a chance to be released from jail.
inally, our country lacks volunteer laborers to help the public works, and the criminals could
contribute to Taiwan’s development. Also, it would help the criminals to fit into society by involving them into the public works or by providing other necessary job skills. It would be a good deal for Taiwanese people.
n summary, it is necessary to abolish capital punishment. With the abolishment of the death penalty, there would be less wrong judgments of condemned prisoners and more volunteers to benefit our society.
owadays most countries are democracies, people have more freedom in many
ways, like opinion on public affairs, liberty of inhabitation and so on. There
fore, governments will make laws not only to protect people’s rights but also
to give punishments to someone who invades others’ benefits. However, despite
gov-ernment legislation, there were still numerous cruel events that have happened. If a
person kills somebody brutally, can we give him or her the equal punishment? People
discuss this issue and have controversy about whether the death penalty be abolished
or not all the time, and in my opinion, the death penalty should not be abolished.
he first reason for my opinion is that criminals should receive the same treat
ment. We are educated that if we do something well, we can get rewards; on
the contrary, if we do something bad or hurt others, we should be punished..
No one has the right to injure other people; therefore, if there is a person who killed
someone ruthlessly, he or she should be judged and given the death penalty.
econdly, the death penalty has the effect of preventing similar matters from
occurring. For example, in Taiwan, the rate of enforcing death penalty is not
too high and frequent, but once the government declared the date of
enforce-ment, each criminal worries whether he or she will be the one who is going to put to
death. In other words, most people dare to commit; however, they don’t have courage
to face the penalty. On the other hand, during the period of enforcing the death penalty,
the crime rate was lower. It means that people realize that the death penalty is not only
symbolic or a slogan, it really represents the result of crime.
oreover, is there anything that we can offer to the victims’ family? Nobody
wants to experience this kind of misfortune, although the victims’ family can
be compensated by money, they still lost the person they love. Consequently,
if the criminal got the same class of condemnation, the victims’ family will not only
get comfort but they won’t need to worry about that there will be more people to fall
victim. So the death penalty is necessary.
lthough people who support the idea that the government should abolish the
death penalty expect that the society can become more peaceful, civil and
humane, people should learn to respect others. In order to maintain the order
of society, the severe penalties should exist and cannot be abolished.

here was a twenty-four year old Belgian girl tried to end her life even though
she didn’t have a disease. According to her words, she felt like her birth was
a mistake. Her childhood was really miserable because her father was an
alcoholic. Since then, she started to have suicidal thoughts. Euthanasia, also called,
“good death” or “painless death”, is a method given to those who struggle to live.
Both the doctor and patient must agree upon this process. If you were the doctor,
would you agree to this operation? For me, I think it might cause many problems.
ake the news we had talked about for example, we could think of some prob
lems that euthanasia might cause. First, it might cause the higher mortality
rate. If you can decide whether to die just because of your poor childhood,
many people will choose death to overcome their difficulties instead of trying to
solve those problems. Secondly, you might think death can solve any problem, but
it’s really cruel to those who love you. They might want to help you to get out of these
miserable situations, and may be willing to listen to and encourage you to get out of
the mess. It’s selfish just think about yourself, and not care about your family and
friends’ feelings at all. Therefore, for Laura, the Belgian girl, several people
criti-cized her behavior. Which one should you choose, your own release or others’
feel-ings?
lthough there are advanced technologies in many countries, not all of them
can accept the concept of euthanasia. Life is precious; we should treasure it
while we can. There are a lot of obstacles or diseases in our life. However,
we should try to find another way to overcome them. If you were Laura, would you
still make the same decision?

he flu problem in Taiwan has become severe in 2016. This year, more and more people catch the flu, and a lot of people have died. The flu problem has become the most import ant problem in Taiwan, and many people have started to notice the seriousness; therefore, people are taking actions to protect themselves. The symptoms of the flu are chest pain, a fever for few days, and a sore throat. The source of the infection is mostly from human beings, and it inflects people through talking or coughing without covering their noses and mouths. This epidemic has taken 160 people’s lives this year, Moreover, Centers for Disease Control, R.O.C. estimated that the flu will have taken 390 lives by the end of March in Taiwan. Why is it so severe in Taiwan?
ne of the reasons why the flu problem is so severe in Taiwan this year is that the WHO gave the wrong vaccine strain to Asia. Every year, the WHO will discuss what kind of vaccine strain they should give to the world the following year, and their decisions are based on the data which include the epidemics in America and Europe the year before. However, the type of flu in America and Europe is different from the flu in Taiwan. That is the reason why even though we had the flu vaccine, we still catch the disease easily in Taiwan.
nother reason is that the Taiwan government made decisions slowly and it lead to an uncontrollable situation. After knowing that the vaccine which the WHO gave to Taiwan is useless, the policy which the government promotes is to let more people have the injec-tion at a lower price. What a strange decision it is! What they should do is to provide more effective medicine to people rather than encouraging more people to accept the invalid vaccine.
f our government makes the right decision after knowing that the vaccine strain given by the WHO is invalid, and promotes the right policy such as, making more effective vaccines and medicine immediately, the flu problem might not be so serious. In my opin-ion, if the government had made the right policy immediately, it might have saved more people’s lives. I hope the government can make the right decision in the future, in that way, many lives could be saved, and the flu problem would not be so serious.

ogs have always been reputed as “human’s best friends.” They have accom panied us for thousands of years, helping us from hunting to rescuing people, and now they are given a whole new job: education.
ow do dogs “educate” people? Well, they don’t. However, they do help people, especially children, to learn. In the US, there is a group of Reading Education Assistance Dogs, namely R.E.A.D., to be the quiet and friendly listeners for children.
ne of the dogs helps with the children’s self-esteem in reading out loud because he is non-judgmental,’ says the dog's owner, Tony Nevett, who has a degree in animal-assisted therapy.” (Bakham)
his R.E.A.D. Program has actually been launched for quite a while in the US, but the concept of R.E.A.D., though already introduced into Taiwan, is not that popular on this island. However, there was a Learning Assistance Dogs’ Field on Minsheng Campus, NPTU, and the news said that it was the first Learning Assistance Dog institutions around the nation.
am glad to see that the R.E.A.D. Program has finally been put into practice in Taiwan; what’s to be more proud of, it is my university that started this program, taking one huge step ahead of all the rest of the universities in Taiwan. I do, sincerely, hope that there will be a day when all the kids who lack confi-dence in reading or speaking can regain their conficonfi-dence through the help of the dogs.

The Effects of Stress
on Students in University
Emma Tsai
蔡依軒
CX102130
Photo by www.youtube.com/watch?v=HimCahtGh-0here is a widely held perception that a variety of emotions to a certain extent have an effect on our way
of life, and distress is no exception. Stress refers to an emotional or psychological state of well-being ranging from nervousness to sheer panic. As Dr. Donald Tubesing, the author of Kicking Your Stress Habits, states that “Stress is like spice - in the right proportion it enhances the flavor of a dish. Too little produces a bland, dull meal; too much may choke you.”(Tubesing, n.d., para.3) With respect to university students who are constantly faced with demanding coursework as well as fierce competition, stress plays a pivotal role in physical health, emotional well-being, and academic success; therefore, it is fundamentally imperative that respective influences be elaborated in the following paragraphs.
o begin with, living with a constant and elevated stress level can be a persistent problem that interferes
with physical health. Generally speaking, stress takes an enormous toll on university student’s physical health, as university is a place of constant evaluation and change. In other words, it is the perfect envi-ronment for chronic stress. Initially, when stress triggers your body, you will go through a process that your temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate will raise, which is a self-protective mechanism. However, when expe-riencing excessive stress, your body will release certain hormones that would do harm to your health if not handled properly, and the common physical effects of stress are headache, digestive problems, compromised immune system, and nausea. Eventually, these effects could reduce the quality of life, let alone to pursue a bounti-ful university life.
ursuing this further, stress can compound to serious levels, which threatens your emotional well-being.
University students are more prone to stress on account of parental and self-expectations, pressing deadlines, and sleep deprivation. As is often the case, university students stay up all night to complete the assignments with a view to turning them in by the deadlines without disappointing themselves and their parents. This can lead to a vicious circle that often causes negative feelings, such as anger, frustration, and anxiety. In addition, long-term exposure to psychological stress may contribute to bipolar disorder: an affective disorder involving unusual shifts in mood, energy, and behavior that makes it difficult for university students to stay focused on academic performances and form interpersonal relationships.
astly, extreme levels of stress can impede work effectiveness and give rise to poor academic perfor
mances. It is true that stress can be a positive thing that can keep you focused during exam preparations and motivate you to study harder; however, it becomes destructive if you continuously challenge your-self without any rehabilitation for a rest. Further, according to the abovementioned, stress is a contributing factor of physical illness and emotional disorder in the long run. Therefore, students who suffer from serious stress may be hindered academically.
y way of conclusion, only by managing stress appropriately can we avoid the destructive consequences
of excessive stress. In my opinion, the effects of stress on university students are physical health, emo tional well-being, and academic success.

My Utmost Gratitude
Doris Shi
施怡廷

n my life, there are many people I want to thank, such as my family, my friends and even a stranger who had helped me. However, the person appreciate most is my Chinese teacher in junior high school. My Chinese teacher was a modest, intellectual and a sensible woman. She always wore her hair in a ponytail, making her look tidy and neat. Unlike other Chinese teachers, she was good at not only teaching, but also listening to students. I really liked taking her Chinese class because I could acquire a lot of knowledge and could easily get refreshed from her words and encouragement. Her Chinese proficiency and unselfish care changed my life and future a lot.
irst of all, she was such an enthusiastic teacher. I remember that we have five Chines classes a week, and some subsidiary courses. She had to teach many hours and see all students many times every week, but she always patiently taught us Chinese knowledge, and provided some skills for us to learn. Even though she had to teach so many hours a week, she never complained. Her spirit deeply touched me; I hoped I could be a happy worker no matter the world changed. Also, she was the first teacher who found my Chinese talent. In junior high school, all teachers and even my parents emphasized balanced-development on all subjects. However, Chinese was my best subject. Despite my bad performance in mathematics, physics and chemistry, my Chinese teacher encouraged me to create my own proficiency and develop my superiority. Owing to her advice, I began to spend time studying Chinese deeply and even taking Chinese composition tests. I realized my talent and tried to give myself an opportunity to do what I really like with confidence and courage.
n addition to studying motivation, she also gave me some warm feelings and understanding. In junior high school, I was a shy and clumsy girl, so I did not know how to behave and express myself to let others understand my thoughts. Therefore, when I had quarrel with my friend, I did not know what to say to her. Because I lacked communication ability, it was hard to get others’ forgiveness and understanding. Day by day, my friend misunderstood me more and more and she even posted something bad about me on her blog, eventually, we did not talk any more. I felt sorrow when I lost the friend and cried. My Chinese teacher observed this incident silently and was not partial to my friend or me. She only told me not to soak myself in sorrows and anger. Being friends is easy, but becoming good friends takes time. She said that both of us were not wrong, it was just due to the different standpoints. Furthermore, she wanted me to be stronger and more considerate. Though my friend posted something bad online to hurt me, I also hurt her in another way that made her angry. Relationships should be cherished and respected, and we should not impose our wishes on others. If we cannot be good friends as in the past, we can try to be good classmates instead. I realized the importance of respecting others, something my Chinese teacher had taught me. I am so grateful that she was willing to listen to me and gave me such a good advice. At the moment, I made up my mind to be an understanding person like my teacher.
y Chinese teacher is my model. In my impression, people who majored in Chinese or literature were more sensitive and so was my teacher. From the Chinese book, we could observe the beauty of Chinese figures, listen to the ancient legends and take in the author’s imagination and mood. I think Chinese words are the most beautiful because each of them has their own origin and meaning. The proverbs are also inter-esting and have wisdom from the ancients that we can apply in our daily life. I appreciate my Chinese teacher introducing me to the world of literature, it changed my life.
really feel enormous gratitude for my Chinese teacher in junior high school. She guided me and taught me how to deal with the interpersonal relationship peacefully and even influenced my future profession. Without her, I may never know where my interest and talent is, or how to maintain a friendship. There-fore, I appreciate every step I have ever taken, and will keep going to reach my goal and build my future happily.

Having your own House
Ching-Ting Yang
楊晶婷
n my opinion, having your own house is a very significant issue in people’s lives. There are many advantages of owning a house for ourselves. Nowadays, it is not easy to have enough money to purchase a house in the curre=nt society and environment. However, I consider that owning a house can bring a lot of benefits and some advantages. Purchasing a house will provide a forev-er home for myself, a place to rent to othforev-ers or a place to invite our friends to visit.
irst of all, having a house means that I own it forever. If I have enough money, I would try my best to find the perfect home and purchase it. In fact, because my family still has no house, we need to rent from other people. Therefore, I can realize the painful feelings and disadvantages of having no house. Purchasing can make me feel grate-ful and happy. Moreover, I will never need to worry about destroying the place that belongs to other people.
econdly, after I bought a house, then I can not only rent it to some people who are poor but also acquire the money by renting. Nowadays, more and more people lack money because their salary is not enough or their family experienced some unfortunate events. As a result, I want to help those who cannot afford a mortgage. If I have an own house, I will rent it at a very low price. Thus, buying a house will not only help the poor people but also allow me to earn an income.
hird, if I have a house, I can invite friends to visit me. I have dreamed of inviting my classmates and friends over since I was still a child. The house which I want should be traditional European style. Moreover, I would want a beautiful garden so that I can play and take a walk with my friends. Inviting people to my home would make me feel wonderful and it will help boost the relationships between my friends and me. As a result, it is definite-ly be great to buy a house because I could entertain my friends whenever I like.
o sum up, having my own house is a signif icant issue in my life. Firstly, owning a house will provide me with a sense of secu-rity and then I will feel satisfied. Second, if I buy a house, I can not only rent it to people but also earn money. Last, it is great to have a place where I can spend time with my friends. Thus, having a house is really important for me.

t’s 5:39. I haven’t been waking up before six after coming to Korea. I put my smartphone back
on the desk and closed my eyes trying to recall the dream which just made me wake up.
he memory starts to come back. I am in a building, and actually, it seems like I am in a sanatori
um. Although things here are all white, my intuition tells me that this is definitely not a hospital but a place for rest. I look around to find the reason why I am in here. Then, I see my grandfather out of the gate sitting on his favorite wicker chair. I walk toward him. After passing the door, suddenly, I am not in the sanatorium anymore. The red enclosure, the little warehouse, and the yard, everything looks familiar. They tell me that I am in my grandfather’s house! I look at my grandfather with surprise, and he responds with a kind smile. He motions for me to sit on his right side. I do and then he asks me whether I feel happy or not. I start to share my life with him.
know we have a good time. I can’t remember every word he said, but I have a strong positive
feeling which is warm and fragrant. Staying by him makes me feel safe and nothing can beat me down. From his expression, I know he is proud of me. His smile seems to tell me “Don’t worry, I always keep an eye on you no matter where I am.” When I am enjoying spending time with my grandfa-ther, there is someone close. My grandfather tells me that it’s time I shall leave. I can’t even have time to feel confused or say goodbye to him. I am out of the dream and wake up.
miss him a lot. Maybe it’s just because I miss him so much so my dream helped me to make it
come true or perhaps my grandfather knows that I miss him; therefore, he came to see me. I don’t know and may not know the truth. However, I would rather believe it’s him, my grandfa-ther. In fact, I miss my grandparents who are already in heaven. Every time when I achieve something in my life, even things like going to the university, I want to share it with them. At that time, I always write a letter to their resting-place. I had no time to do it before I came to Korea and regret that, so I pray every night and hope they can hear me.
y grandfather received the letter from my heart. Thus, he came to my dream to respond to me.
He listens to the things I shared and gave me his advice or tells me his thoughts. I can feel his pride and love in every word he said. I know I don’t need to feel lonely or afraid since he and my grandmother are always beside me and helping me. They will take care of me in their way just as they did when they were alive. My grandfather responded to me with the best answer and by a great method. I won’t make a wish to hope to never wake up from the dream. Instead, I hope after waking up, I can strive in life so that I can share more stories with my grandfather. I am looking to the next meeting.

ou know this story. There are cracks of lightning, a mad genius, and an unholy creation.
The world, of course, remembers the monster, not the man. But sometimes, when you look closely, there's more to a tale. Sometimes the monster is the man. “You were my best creation!” Imagine all of your life you were being detested and loathed. Not until the very special one sees your potential and then you realize the value of being a human. Will you devote yourself to repay him?
rankenstein is a well-known science fiction which most of us are familiar with. “During
a violent thunderstorm, a monster was created. What people don’t know is that it’s the beginning of a nightmare.” Compared to the original novel, the 2015 movie, Victor Frankenstein, focuses more on the unusual friendship between Victor and Igor, and the reason why Victor went out of his mind in the process of creation. The director somehow turned it into a totally different movie which impressed me a lot; however, it didn’t do well at the box office.
love the settings and the way it depicted a damnation of a distorted soul. To Igor, Victor
Frankenstein is not only a savior of his miserable life being treated like a possession of a circus but also a friend that shared tears and joy. They appreciated each others’ talents and decided to create a life out of death. Everything seemed normal until they resurrected a monkey. Igor found that man should not try to defy nature after the monstrous monkey attacked him. However, Victor was indulged in a greater plan of creating humanity instead of considering any immorality. Step by step, Victor’s ambition led him to his own destruction.
believe a personality is made of one’s life experience. Since you have suffered from that
kind of torture, you realize the joy of creation. For Victor, the nightmare that haunted him for many years was witnessing his brother’s death when protecting him. He was in lifelong pain of regret for asking his brother to go out with him on that blistery night. He prayed and prayed to god but nothing changed. From then on, Victor believed in neither Satan nor God. Only he could control life and death. He regarded life as temporary, why should death be any different. Therefore, he was dedicated to medicine in order to seek compensation of his sense of guilt. He wanted to create a life. On the other hand, Igor, as Victor’s assistant, knew well that this creation is a challenge against nature after the first experiment. Yet, he still chose to help for Victor was the creator of his brand new life. It was Victor that gave him a name and chances to approach the ocean of knowledge. At the end of the movie, Victor had no choice but to kill his monster since the thing he created was not even a creature.
n my opinion, it was the desire of being approved by the world that brought these two
broken souls together. In our life, we have our own ideal and dreams for sure, but it is hard to find someone who will support you and portray the vision of your dream in the future with heart, no matter how wild is it. If I were Igor, I probably will do the same thing for Victor because I know if the situation changed, he will do the same for me. The movie made me reflect on myself that sometimes a situation cannot be seen through merely one angle. The creator of the monster may not mean to hurt people, but had his own story to tell.
