課程名稱 中文: 美、義戰後文學、文化比較

英文:Comparative Literature and Culture – Italy meets U.S.A

開課對象 Junior and Senior students from the English Department

課程目標Course Overview: This course is an experimental research on comparison of the culture and literature between Europe (Italy) and U.S.A during the time of WW I. and WW II. Italian Literature of this critical time was full of sympathy to the land and people. Surprisingly, Despite of their geographic and political differences we could still find a lot of interesting similarities in American and Italian literature due to the writers’ sensibility to the general issues of human kinds.

I would like to make this course a brief introduction of the era which is not so well known and felt by the students of Taiwan, yet creates a very important influence on western culture and society. Upon completing this course students could have a general idea on the society and mentality of both Europeans an Americans at that time and therefore be able to associate different ideas and see things from new angles.
