本文限於探討戈丁透過攝影實踐，進行創傷敘事與療癒的過程。然戈丁的作品中 還含有那個時代對於部落文化的推崇、扮裝皇后的歷史沿革、記錄東南亞國家中 性工作者、將描繪私領域帶入時尚攝影等議題仍是可繼續探討的主題。
然透過此篇研究，希望能藉由戈丁的攝影，提供一個不同於主流的觀看視角，喚 起社會對於邊緣族群的關懷。台灣與美國的歷史背景並非一致，然當主流族群面 對異己時，便會貼上社會邊緣族群的標籤，再以異樣的態度與眼光對待這群弱勢 族群的模式，是每個社會皆有的現象。
就如台灣主流群眾，以歧視、恐懼、有色眼光看待不僅是身障、同志、扮裝族 群，還有近年的外籍勞工與配偶、性工作者、檳榔西施等族群時，其實便已將他 們定位於社會邊緣的位置。當操控著群眾思想的主流媒體，以一言堂的發聲姿態 描繪該族群時，不僅可能以主觀認知造成迫害，甚至加深外界對其的歧視眼光。
因此透過戈丁的攝影分析，期望從其對社會邊緣族群不帶批評眼光的拍攝，能提 供以關懷的視角來看待社會邊緣族群的可能。希冀能藉此擴展了解社會邊緣族群 的面向，使社會能跳脫歧視眼光，給予這些族群不同的歷史定位，並以此開啟創 傷療癒的可能。
